Mischief managed!

The first mischief was managed by Lady when she finally scraped a nice big abrasion on her foot -- trying not to be loaded onto her trailer. The vet warned us about our ramp hazard. The latches popped into metal ears on either side of the ramp. The 'ears' were just welded-on sections of 'U Channel' with sharp corners that stuck out about 1" and were at perfect ankle-biting height when the ramp was down.

I had an idea. Luckily, The Boss haz skilz:

Ta-daa! A little cogitating, a lot of measuring, some cutting, welding, grinding, a little paint, and: problem solved! (Okay, it actually took the two of us most of Saturday :).)

The Boss chopped off the 'ears', fabricated plates from angle iron for the bolts to shoot through, welded them onto the trailer body, prettied them up (did a super job grinding the corners off -- all nice and round!), and welded chains onto the ramp where, when it's down, they drop away underneath -- no more hazard! My job? Scratch my head, dig through the scrap pile, measure, mark, place, and say "ready" when my welding shield was down ;).

Okay, Stoopid Horse, time to find some other way to hurt yourself! (Which she will, no doubt -- sigh!)
